Sustainable Development Through Innovative Solutions: Case Study By ITL Corporation

Recently, GFA has published the Global Insights Report 2024: A review of major sustainability-related developments in 2022 and 2023, highlighting the events related to regional supply chain. In addition to analyzing international and regional policies, the Global Insight Report also features the case studies and industry best practices from member companies in the Green Freight Asia (GFA) network.

Accordingly, ITL is honored to showcase an article sharing the innovative solutions applied towards sustainable development in the field of transportation and Logistics in Vietnam. Let us take a look back at this journey in the article as follows:

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT THROUGH INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONSCASE STUDY BY ITL CORPORATION

Today, as climate change becomes increasingly serious, many businesses are focusing on innovating operating processes and offering urgent solutions to reduce CO₂ emissions, especially in the transportation and Logistics industry. ITL is not an exception; our company not only sets specific goals but also applies solutions and uses advanced technology to achieve this goal.

Vehicle Upgrading for Environmental Protection
To protect the environment and reduce CO₂ emissions most effectively, the first thing we needed to do was modernise our fleet. We have liquidated old vehicles that are no longer efficient in operation to reduce emissions and optimise our vehicle fleet. In addition, ITL has also invested in standardising the vehicle fleet to meet Euro 4 and 5 standards by purchasing 60 new UD QUESTER 330 HP tractors and 20 ISUZU small trucks. These are trucks from Japan, known as the most modern and fuel-efficient in the world.

Integrated Technologies for Green Businesses
While ITL focuses on standardising the vehicle fleet, it also pays special attention to warehousing issues and optimising transportation distances. The ITL team has researched and built a satellite parking system with the aim of cutting transportation distances, mobilising empty containers and optimising travel distance, helping to maximise fuel savings and reduce CO₂ emissions.

In addition, by effectively combining ITL's customer resources in reuse container model (reusing import containers for export shipments) and making the most of empty miles, unnecessary emissions are reduced. The combined solutions between barge and transportation will help to decrease the CO₂ emission because the emission of transportation is 8 times higher than barge.

Through constant efforts in pursuing the trend of sustainable green business development, ITL has pioneered the use of modern technology and successfully achieved its set environmental protection goals. We have installed solar energy systems at warehouses to provide electricity and support daily activities and work. Additionally, ITL also optimises materials by utilising glued tyres and retreaded tyres to extend the life cycle of tyres and minimise the amount of waste discharged into the environment. Along with prevention and savings measures, ITL has cooperated with a professional and licensed company to solve waste problems such as oil, batteries, and damaged tyres.

Enhanced Transportation Safety and Office Efficiency
Besides technological applications to protect the environment, ITL also focuses on developing the transportation potential of the business. Currently, ITL is collaborating with partners to equip GPS tracking and surveillance cameras in the cabin to optimise the journey, warn of driving beyond the prescribed time and alert for speeding violations.

Simultaneously, ITL is proceeding to set up sensors to detect and warn against driver drowsiness and fatigue, serving as a reminder for drivers to rest. Furthermore, 15 specialised tractors have been equipped with fuel sensor technology by ITL to help closely manage fuel consumption during the day. Lastly, the company has been effectively applying ISO standards to standardise office-working processes.

By mastering the established rules, ITL progressively develops sustainably, creating capabilities that enhance business value in diverse fields of transportation, trade, and services.
