ITL Accompanies Vietnam Logistics Forum 2023

Vietnam Logistics Forum 2023, with the theme "Logistics And Digital Transformation For The Mekong Delta," was successfully held in Can Tho City from December 1st to 3rd, 2023. The forum was attended by leaders from various ministries, sectors, localities, as well as numerous associations and Logistics businesses nationwide.

ITL Corporation participated in the forum as a Gold sponsor. In particular, Mr. Pham Hai Anh, Deputy General Director of Sowatco - a member of Sotrans Group – a member of ITL Corporation, delivered a presentation at the forum with the topic: "Developing Waterway Transport for Agricultural Products in the Mekong Delta - Connecting with National Gateway Ports."

Representatives of ITL Corporation's Board of Directors attended the forum included Mr. Ben Anh - CEO, Mr. Dang Doan Kien - Vice President of Investment, Mr. Ronald Khoi - General Director of ITL Logistics, and other managers from the Group.

According to Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), Vietnam’s current Logistics costs account for an average of 16.8 - 17% of GDP, which is significantly higher than the global average of 10.6%. Compared with Logistics costs nationwide, the Mekong Delta can be doubled, from 30-40%.

In his sharing at the forum, Mr. Hai Anh commented that investing in large-scale Logistics centers requires large capital. Therefore, a feasible solution for the Mekong Delta is to utilize barge transportation and invest in inland container depots (ICDs) with river terminals, covering an area of about 10 hectares and handling a capacity of 200,000 TEUs per year. These ICDs would focus on essential infrastructure, including specialized cold storage facilities, scanning machines, and empty container depots.

Vietnam Logistics Forum is an annual event organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade since 2013, aiming to strengthen connectivity and open dialogue at all three levels between state management agencies at the central and local levels and associations with businesses operating in the Logistics industry in Vietnam.
